I have a Gateway Solo 5300 laptop Windows XP. Is it possible to download an anti-virus onto a flash drive?

I need to download an anti-virus to my computer. I know it is downloaded to the hard drive in most instances, but can I insert a flash drive and install it to the drive?

1. Yes, Bill M. is correct, you can put anything that you want onto a flash drive (except an operating system), but it will always need to be connected for you to access anything on it.
