Why is there a buzzing sound when I plug in my speaker to my laptop?
I bought this speaker on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Portable-Speaker-Notebook-Computer-Available/dp/B003C4QUY6 I got it today, so I plugged in the audio cable to the headphone part of my Acer Aspire laptop, and the sound plays but there is a loud buzzing noise. I'm not great at stuff like this so help! http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/300719202/Red_Panda_mini_speaker.html

- It could be your laptop, I'd test the sound quality with headphones and if the ground noise is still there it's the computer. If it isn't I'd return the speakers.
- Just a couple of guesses. I don't think the speakers are powered (that is, there is a power supply that plugs in to the wall then into the speakers) but if there is there may be an issue with the electrical ground. That can cause buzzing. There may be trouble with the cable from the speakers to the laptop. Again, a good ground is important and that may be part of the trouble. Last, if you have fluorescent lighting close to where the wires run they may be picking up the 60Hz line signal. You may try plugging the speakers into your ipod or whatever and seeing if there is a similar issue. Again, these are a lot of guesses. If something leads to a solution, then GREAT!
