Gateway Parts

Which laptop should I get? A Sony or Gateway?

Ok, I have been to Best Buy 2 times this week to get a this Gateway laptop that i was going to buy. They did not have it either times. I learned to call ahead to see if they have any in stock. Both laptops have 320 gb hard drive, and 4gb memory RAM. When I was there on Monday afternoon, I saw this Sony one for $100 more and about the same specks. I would like to get that one now, but I am about 50 dollars short of the price. My mom and I made a deal, I would buy the laptop, and she would pay for tax, and all the other stuff that comes with it. How should i convince her to let me get the sony one. The gateway is only $480 without tax. The sony is $580 with out tax. I have about $530 or $540 dollars saved up. Also tell me what you think of the 2, and what one should I get. The customer reviews on both are very good, but I have heard Sony makes great laptops! I have had this Acer aspire 5315 which is the worst laptop ever, even the guy at best buy said that. So i want a good laptop with good memory and ram. Both laptops meet that requirements. What is the overall better one? I'll be using it for everyday uses, surfing the web, skyping with my sister at college, checking e-mail, going on facebook. And some gaming. But which one would you suggest me getting. I like the sony better, but would get the Gateway if it was better. here are the links to the 2 laptops. Also sorry if i used poor grammar, my friend slept over and he made me stay up all night. Ok if i get the sony, does it come with Song vegas pro 9 on it, or would i still have to buy that too? becaue that looks like a very nice editing software and i like to edit videos om my computer. thanks again!

  1. I have the Gateway model and I'm very happy with it. The only thing I don't like is the battery life but 2 hours seems like the average today.Anyway I almost never use it on battery Also if money is an issue go to newegg.com and shop online, you can save more there
  2. I'd go with the Sony laptop because it has a batter clock speed by .2 ghz, a far better graphics card to stream the games and hd videos, 4GB RAM is a good choice for both of these laptops because you get full multi tasking power to handle applications, a powerful 2 core processor to handle your basic web browsing and intense gaming. Both of the laptops have the 2 core processor, the gateway does have the better battery life but the Sony one has a lower battery life and a better graphics card for gaming and videos, the gateway's graphics card isn't that great the Sony one is much better man. You'll get full performance for the task's you are going to complete. I wouldn't be to concerned about the battery life just don't plug it in all the time one day you charge and the other day use the battery like I do. Sometimes you should also complete power drainage which can improve battery performance by releasing the battery and holding down the power button for 60 seconds. Go for the sony man :)
  3. I Have reviewed the specs. The Sony seams to have a better processor while the Gateway has a better screen. If your of an HD movie watcher go with the Gateway If you do more of rendering and video editing go with the Sony
