Does a power supply for a computer have specific places to plug into the ports in my other parts?

I'm replacing my old power supply, and there are some ports in different parts that look exactly the same. Does it matter where I plug in the wires from my power supply as long as they fit?

1. No, it doesn't matter. Connectors that are the same shape will give the same voltage, so if the connector fits, it's OK to use.
2. Nope. If they fit in, they are made for each other. :)
