Is it possible to upgrade my old computer parts wise?
I have a Dell desktop computer that's about 4+ years old. I've upgraded to a bigger hard drive, added a bit more RAM, and have upgraded the graphics card. Is it possible to upgrade the processor, and then the graphics and RAM even further? Or am I hopelessly finding an alternative to buying a new computer?

- sure you can keep upgrading. depends on what you want out of it. gaming computers are cheaper to build then buying, but you need to learn how to do it. if you just use it for work or school, i would just buy a new one. you can get a very decent computer cheap these days.
- Hi There, At this point it sounds like you have upgraded all you can unless you buy another motherboard, processor, RAM and video card. Your optical drives and hard drives will probably work. If you upgrade the video card you may need a larger capacity power supply. A new power supply may be needed to provide the proper cables for the motherboard also. If you are not comfortable building a new system your best bet will be a new computer. Hope this helps, Al
- Did you get on Dell's website and look up the model number for your motherboard? If the processor can be upgraded, there ought to be a list of boards (unless they're all integrated boards) that can use a variety of processors. Without knowing your motherboard model, answerers can't tell you much about getting a new CPU. If you find you can't go to a new processor, you might find a new board that'll give you support for the CPU you'd like to have.
