How to get past a user password on a recently purchased Gateway Laptop...?
I have a Gateway M-Series Laptop. Model Number: W650A Just bought at a pawn shop today, the default user is the only user, ADMINISTRATOR. I need to know how to get past this so I may change the password. I know there is a way to do this, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. EDIT: Do not have the CD... Don't know the operating system, XP or Vista I would assume with the age... EDIT: WINDOWS 7

- for xp ctrl + alt + del 3 time at welcome screen username admin / administrator password admin or blank
- Active boot CD will clear out windows passwords. I just used it yesterday on someone's desktop. http://www.ntfs.com/boot-disk.htm
- Tap F8 on boot up and go into safe mode, if the admin account there is unprotected, then you can delete the password, and you problem is solved , but I have seen safe mode protected if that is the case it is a reformat of the hard drive for the average user? By rights the pawn shop should have done this already, whenever I buy stuff from a pawn shop, especially electrical I make sure it is working before I leave the shop as they do give you a 3 month warranty?
- don't know the OS ? that's strange, since you say you cant log in, as during the boot you would know what OS is was. You can download a password reset CD (iso) this will clear the administrator password (works on XP, server, vista, 7 and any Other MS OS) download link. http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/cd100627.zip instructions on use http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd/
