What is a good, cheap(ish) graphics card for a Gateway NV53A laptop?

I'd like to play games like B ops, and mafia 2, which run very choppy right now. I currently have the original from my laptop. I'd like to keep everything under $150, if possible. Is a dedicated graphics card better? Should I buy that instead? Sorry, in graphics in notebooks, I have no idea. Please explain what u are talking about, I can talk software, but not hardware.
