is it possible to take the best parts of two computers and combine them into one computer?

i have 2 older hp computers both came out around the same time but i wanted to know if i could take the best parts of each one and put them together into one computer how do i know if they are compatible or not

2. Provided the components are compatible with each other, yes.
3. You could easily have both hard drives in the system if it's a desktop relatively easy. You might be able to combine the sticks of ram if they use the same type of ram. You might even be able to put the best processor in the system if they both use the same socket processor. But, you're not going to get much increase in power with the system since the components are going to be about the same.
