Gateway Parts

Which laptop, Gateway or ASUS?

I recently bought a new laptop from Bestbuy,,, a gateway nv53a which I do like but I'm experiencing more lag in the performance than I expected esp for a new laptop. I upgraded from an HP Pavilion running Vista to this running Windows 7. Now that I've experienced the lag I was wondering which computer would possibly catch your eye between the 2 below (I'm trying to keep this laptop cheap but not bare basic) The gateway I have with the following: Gateway NV53A $479 AMP Turion II X2 Processor P540 Windows 7 4gb Ram 15.6" Display 500 gb HDD 5.7 lbs OR ASUS K52F-BIN6 $399 Intel Processor 15.6" Display 3 gb ram 500 gb hybrid solid state hard drive Facial Recognition 8.5 lbs They both have so many things appealing to them it makes it hard to decide. I just want something really good, trust worthy performance and build, under $500 with HDMI out. ANY help, opinions or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you so very much!

  1. To tell you the truth, I would pick neither. The one I would recommend is an HP (Hp computers ae absolutely amazing) but the problem is you said UNDER 500. Just to let this out, 800 min for Hp ( i might be wrong though if youre interested check) But for a decision between only these TWO COMPUTERS. For gaming, ASUS would not be good. (well neither would gateway... but whatever) If you want to use it for day to day stuff, its great. All together Im liking ASUS more (pricing hybrid drive, boots up fast) but gateway is ok too. SO here my choice: ASUS- 65 percent Gateway- 35 percent. Long @ss answer but there you go :P
