Will my Dell Warranty Cover Installation From A Computer Repair Shop? Also battery question...?

My hard drive got screwed up (again, for the 2nd time) and I got a replacement shipped to me. Now I took it to the local repair shop, and I got a bill for $150. As they were repairing it, my grandmother (who got me my Dell) said that the warranty covered the installation as well. Now, I'm confused. I looked at the Dell website and found nothing but technical terms that made no sense to me. Did she make a mistake? I have a Dell Inspiron 1545, with the three year extended warranty with Limited Technical Support and Rapid Response Depot. Also, I know my battery isn't covered by the warranty. But It's toast, and my dad said that there are some knock-off batteries that are 'compatible' with Dell computers that we can get for cheaper. The business said they have been doing business for years, making computer parts for a fraction of the cost. Should I trust and pay $30 for a warrantied knock-off battery?

  1. the dell warranty will cover installation of a hard drive it is is installed by them (you send the system in to get it fixed) it does not cover a third party company doing the install for you. and also a knockoff battery is ok. just make sure it has 1 year warranty. most of them do. and ensure that they will cover any damage to the laptop if it gets fried by the battery. dell will not repair the system if it got fried by a third party battery that is not dell certified. as far as the hard drive bill. it is correct. tell them you did not expect that much to pay for it and look for loopholes and see if you can either get out of the bill all together, or pay a lot less or pay them like $20/month till ur done. good luck.
