Gateway Parts

Can you build a computer entirely out of used parts?

Can you build a computer entirely out of used parts and should you? Would it work to build it out of certain parts that are used and certain new ones? which parts might not feel the affects of being used as much and are safer to use?

  1. Well, the only advise I can give you is you shouldn't and if you tried it probably wouldn't work sorry but give it a try and see what happens!
  2. To answer your questions, can you build a computer out of used parts, yes. Should you? That all really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you merely want a machine to access the internet, a home build used desktop would be fine, if you want something that is going to be a serious business machine, I would not advise building one of spare parts unless you have a fairly decent background in system building. A computer is really only a few parts; A Mainboard that holds all of the circuits and usually the CPU/Heat Sink, A hard drive (to store yer stuff), a power source, network cards, a video card, some memory, a fan and some peripherals - keyboard, mouse, etc. As long as the drive is bootable - a used drive is just dandy.
  3. Yep. I do it all the time.
  4. yes but, it would definitely be better and safer if you use new parts
