why did the power icon on my laptop disappear?

i have changed the properties on my task bar to make sure ALL icons show up and the power icon never shows up the part where you can choose an icon to be "on" or "off" does not work for the power icon. i can't click it However it USED to be there how do i make it appear again? -I have a compaq notebook & use Windows 7 too. how do i fix this? CONTROL PANEL DIDNT FIX IT

1. That happened to me too, execpt the wireless connection thing disapeared. I tried to get it back and it disapeared from the properties folder too. So, in the end I just factory restored my netbook and it came back. It was weird :/ GoodLuck <3
2. go to the control panel notification and icons then system icons you should be able to make a difference there
