Can you store computer parts in sandwich bags?
I recently dismantled an old PC that died after 8 years of service. I plan on re-using some of the parts on a computer near Christmas (Christmas gift, obviously...), but I have no place to store them. Would sandwich bags be alright, or would they fry the parts?

- Electro static bags would be better, but I have been tossing parts into a cardboard box for years with no negative effect.
- I'd find electrostatic bags for the hard drive, and the processor. Other then that, go for it.
- It's okay to leave them in the sandwich bags, but watch out for a few things: - don't power up whatever's inside in the bag - beware of static, it may fry your component - if you move it from a very cold to a very hot location, let the component dry out first before powering it up
- No, sandwich bags are okay to store lunch, screws etc. but if it is a electronic part; card or board or drive it needs to go in antistatic bags and not 2 to a bag ether. just one part per bag. If you pick up a part without proper grounding strap then the part could be destroyed by static. Think of a time you walked across a rug and touched a door knob and got zapped by static. it takes loads less than that to ruin electronics.. first you have to keep reseating that card you mishandled then one day it quits.
