Can I play Minecraft on my Acer Aspire one Notebook?

A friend of mine has gotten me into this game called Minecraft not too long ago but I've been having problems running it. You'd figure with such simple graphics it'd be able to run easy. Go figure. The same friend is who got me also into World of Warcraft, and it ACTUALLY ran better than Minecraft does. Anyway, the main problem I have with the Minecraft game is the lag that leaves me in one of my impatient moods. I've tried doing the following things: GAME BOOSTER 3: Simply just clicked "Start Boost", giving it a 44% performance increase. (Not noticable by my sight anyway) ADVANCED SYSTEMCARE: I did a "Deep Care" cleaning on my computer, and I have Turbo Boost for gaming turned on. ActiveBoost is also constantly running. COMPUTER ITSELF: Right-Clicking on the icon at the bottom right (The one that labels the AC battery life, but I always never unplug the AC cord; I don't carry it anywhere really) and adjusting power properties, I have the Power Scheme set as "Gaming Mode Power plan." Also during Gameplay, I set the Java application in the Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Delete) to highest priority, option just below realtime, as I know Realtime can really mess with your computer's performance. Doing all that I stated above is making it run maybe 8 FPS. At the most. Creative mode works quite well dispite lag spikes here and there, it's just survival mode I'm having trouble with keeping up. Sorry if this is quite long, but I just think too much information is never enough. The type of Acer I have I'm not sure, as there are a few brands from what I'm aware of. The most significant parts of the laptop would be no flashing red light near the camera, and the lights for power, caps lock, etc are not directly above the keyboard, but up above the keyboard where it curves lie the lights. I'm using a very weak wifi signal so a photo is kinda out of the question, I do apologize. I can only give a description at this time. Lastly I'll name off the Statistics of the computer, i.e. RAM, processor, etc. etc. OS: Windows XP-Home Edition Version 2002 Service pack 3 Processor: Intel Atom RAM: .98 GB CPU N270 @ 1.60 GHz. I'm not exactly computer savvy, I just know the things an intermediate person would know. Any thoughts, tips, suggestions, etc. would greatly be appreciated. If I left anything out, please do let me know and I would gladly list the information needed. Don't be afraid to tell me this is the best it can do right now. I didn't really have high hopes for this netbook in the first place. But if there's anything that can enable it to play the game, I'm open for that too.

  1. Simply put more RAM into your laptop and you'll see a big difference. Try boosting it up to 2GB cheers.
  2. Damn, you've got a single core... That maybe limiting your performance with Minecraft. Take in mind your graphics maybe bottle necking too. But as the other guy said add some ram. I had a single core and I couldn't log into an MMO with 512mb of ram but I put 2gbs in there and BAM I could actually play it. It would lag every now and then but that's cause of the graphics being way outdated. So just cause your pc can run something doesn't mean its running well. Try the ram if not upgrade if you can.
