Notebook Internet Connection problem?

My daughter is having internet connection problems with her Acer Aspire 4250 notebook. It does see the available networks (WiFi), it connects but it says that she is having router issues. Also it says the default gateway is not available. I have rebooted the router so I know the router at my home is working because I am able to connect my IPhone, and a desktop in a different part of the house. She is also having this problem at the local university with the WiFi network there. Does anyone have any advice on what this might mean and what is needed to be done to fix this? I have a basic understanding of computers but I will probably need detailed instructions on what to do. Thank you!!!!!

  1. Go to the manufacturers website and download an updated driver for your wifi card.
  2. Depending on how old the laptop is. It could be an issue with the card and the type of security that is being used. Disable security at home and see if the laptop can connect. Or maybe you just need to reinstall the wireless drivers for the laptop. If all that fails then just buy another wireless adapter for the laptop.
