can I use a desktop keyboard in place of my laptop keyboard? I have a gateway laptop with Windows XP?
I have a gateway solo 5300 laptop with Windows XP and 384 MB ram. Can I hook up a desktop keyboard in place as temporary to use? If it is possible to do so, what is the proper procedure to follow?

- You can always use desktop elements with laptops if... 1- the laptop can have things added in, it will have USB holes (like for flashdrives) 2- the keyboard you want has a cord that fits into the flashdrive slot
- Yes you can, if it's a USB keyboard. Just plug it into the USB slot, and follow the steps to make it work. Hope I helped! :)
- If the keyboard has a USB on the end of it... YES it will work. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/96/USB-Connector-Standard.jpg With the computer running just plug it into the laptop. I believe there are 2 slots at the right rear of the laptop. Usb's only plug in one way. So be careful.
- generally, just buy a cheap-o keyboard that connects via USB drives. hopefully your laptop has a USB drive, haha! good luck!
