Which is a better laptop in terms of durability and performance- Gateway, Vaio, or HP?

My Uncle in the US is asking my opinion about a Gateway laptop (NV series) that he"s planning to buy for me. I've read some reviews and they only confused me about the quality of this particular brand. I have a Compaq Presario now and it"s quite messed up after only two years so I don't think I'm going to risk buying another Compaq laptop again. So far, those three brands above are the best options I found. Thanks

1. HP is reliable vaio is better in performance but not reliable i think u should go for HP
2. NEW HP laptops are better than any other in similar price bracket in case of durability. the old series was not as durable but the new one is. and of you are delicate handler you can go for VAIO. they hold themselves well until you damage them physically.
3. Lenovo\IBM is the way to go if you are looking at "durability" and "performance". You can check the quality of Lenovo\IBM by checking the Crash Test (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CrpUU3cCPE) I wouldn't go with HP since they are known of issues (Hard Disk Drive failing... etc). Gateway isn't such a bad laptop computer, nor is Sony Vaio. They are pretty good in terms of performance, not durability.
