How to fix black screen flashing and crash on The Sims 3?

After like 15 minutes of game play of The Sims 3 the screen starts to turn black and flash with the cursor still on the screen, and I don't know what to. I tried the DEP but had to restore the computer back to a time before any problems. So i'm wondering if I should do it again. 1. Sounds like a video card issue. Try updating your drivers. Does it do the same thing with other games? Try lowering your graphics settings in the game and see if that helps too.
