- Newegg is usually the cheapest place to shop for those parts online, and they have good customer service. It never hurts to check your local stores for sales though. I was in Best Buy just looking at the monitor I was going to order and noticed that they had a 150GB Western Digital Raptor for $99.99! That thing costs upwards of $150 on Newegg and $200 at other places. You never know the deals you're going to find.
- Frys.com is another good source, their everyday prices arent that good but they have some great specials. If you live somewhere near an actual Fry's store you can pick up some super-deals if you watch their print ads. - I'm in the biz and use Newegg most of the time. They seem to be slipping of late with having the lowest prices on a lot of stuff when you factor in the shipping costs. I'd also check zipzoomfly.com, tigerdirect.com and Mwave.com. I sometimes order parts from 3 different retailers for one build.
- do not go to newegg or tigerdirect. both of them are very expensive. the best place to find cheap sellers is www.pricewatch.com.
- newegg.com all the way. i dont buy from anywhere else for all my comptuer needs.
