Can computer parts from a different country work in my computer?
Hello all. I want to build a gaming PC up that will last me for a while, so I was looking at websites selling parts in the US/Canada that I could possibly import to the UK. Just one question is on my mind: Can imported computer parts (processor/motherboard/video card/ram, etc) work in a different country? I know the power supply is different, but if I were to use american parts in a UK-made computer would the whole thing just go up in smoke? Thank you for your time.

- There is no technical reason aside from dvd region locking that parts for a computer won't work in another country. The biggest issue will be trying to get warranty coverage for foreign parts. Try http://www.newegg.com for parts.
- Of course they can! As long as you get the technologyes right (i.e.: don't try to put an AMD processor in an LGA sockett, or a AGP card in a PCI Express slot). Happy building.
- Most computer parts come from foreign countries - mostly from Asia.
- yes
